Providing Specialty Dental Services

in partnership with:

Our Smile Clinic is a two-chair facility housed in the specialty clinics wing at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). It offers the security of immediate medical attention onsite for sensitive procedures. Dentists from Healthy Smiles’ residency program and Healthy Smiles clinical staff have been specially trained to operate on all patients at the Smile Clinic undergoing general anesthesia, oral sedation, nitrous, and tooth extraction procedures.

Helping Children with Cleft Lips/Palates

Healthy Smiles has been utilizing the Nasoalveolar Molding, or NAM appliance, to enhance the surgical results of cleft lip and palate repairs since 2016. Healthy Smiles is one of the only pediatric dental clinics in Orange County that offers pre-surgical Nasoalveolar Molding for babies with cleft lip and palates. The use of the appliance can facilitate feeding, protect sensitive tissues within the cleft site, and alter the shape, as well as reduce the size of the cleft of the lip and palate, all prior to the first surgical procedures. We help reduce the number of follow up/corrective surgeries and minimize scarring caused by additional surgeries.

Frequently Asked Questions

We know how hard it can be making it to the dentist, especially for kids. So, we make it as easy as possible to receive the dental care you need.

We accept Denti-Cal and PPO dental insurance.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that every child visits the dentist around age 1 or within 6 months of their first tooth coming in. Establishing a dental home with regular care can help a child feel comfortable in a dental environment. By providing regular care, we are able to detect problems early.

During the first visit, oral health education will be provided to give parents the tools necessary to keep their children cavity free. For older children, the first visit can include an exam, cleaning, and necessary x-rays. If any treatment is needed, a doctor will review all recommendations and treatment plans thoroughly, making sure to answer all questions.

Avoid using words around your child that might cause fear, such as “needle”, “shot”, “drill”, or “hurt” – we do not use these words in our clinics.

For your first visit, remember to bring the following items:

– Your child’s medical history.

– A list of any medications your child is taking.

– Your insurance information, if applicable.
